Congrats to Obama, Pelosi, and Reid, on Modern Record.

Here are the the last 60 years’ worth of midterm losses, going back to the second Truman midterm using the current CNN projection of a 65 seat Republican gain and a 243 R - 192 D House.

Keeping Clyburn Down

Rather then recognizing that Hoyer and Pelosi were the coaches of a losing team and deserve to be fired by the team, they are doubling down. Both are looking to remain as Dem leadership. As a conservative, I wish them well. The Other McCain has another take on their bid.
Their headline is....
It’s On: White Democrat Steny Hoyer Trying to Oppress a Victimized Minority
Steny and Co. are just oppressing a minority. They are keeping the glass ceiling in place for Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.), a member of the Black Congressional Caucus.

Is Pelosi in danger of losing Minority Whip Spot?

Moderate Dems Line Up in Opposition to Pelosi's Bid for Minority Leader

Rep. Joe Donnelly, D-Ind., said he was "disappointed that Speaker Pelosi is going to seek the position of Minority Leader."

Rep. Larry Kissell's office said he hopes Pelosi "will change her mind and step aside."

Rep. Dan Boren of Oklahoma told Fox News that voters sent a message Tuesday that they want the Democratic Party to move in a new direction.

"They want someone to lead the party who is going to be bipartisan," he said. "This is very disappointing for a lot of us in the center."

Rep. Heath Shuler, of North Carolina, has said he might challenge Pelosi because the party needs a more moderate leader.

But even some longtime supporters of Pelosi said she needed to step aside as the party leader.

"I voted for everything she asked me to vote for," said Rep. Albio Sires, D-N.J. "You know, sometimes in this business it's difficult to know when to move on."

Unemployment is actually a benefit says Pelosi

I remember some politician in NY saying that the aftermath of the 1977 blackout was good for the economy. The damages caused an influx of money into the local economy from repairs, new products, etc.. Windows had to be repaired. Stores needed to be rehabilitated. Insurance money came into the city. Lots of money was spent.
BUT....
The idiot forgot to calculate how much was lost or how much was spent on rehab rather than inproving the quality of the products. The store owners now had to include security concerns into their bottom line. They had to contend with higher insurance rates. Many gave up. The main commercial strip in my neighborhood went from vibrant and booming, to boarded up and vacant. Many of the store owners took the insurance money and fled South,West and East. They went to Long Island, South Brooklyn, Staten Island, and New Jersey. It took years for it to return to any semblance of its former self.

Maybe if the government got out of the way, the American people would make the economy work again. Ronald Reagan inherited a far greater mess than President Obama. He got out of the way of American entrepenuers. It started a boom that lasted almost 26 years

Hey Madam Speaker, That is NOT Entrepreneurial

THAT IS BEING A FREAKIN' DEADBEAT,
LEECHING OFF THE STATE ! ! !

"We see it as an entrepreneurial bill, a bill that says to someone, if you want to be creative and be a musician or whatever, you can leave your work, focus on your talent, your skill, your passion, your aspirations because you will have health care."

Entrepreneur- one who organizes, manages, and assumes the risks of a business or enterprise.

Should we Pass it, just to find out what is in it????

“But we have to pass the bill
so that you can find out what is in it,
away from the fog of the controversy.

That is not how it works Nancy
We want to know......
You should know......
What is in it
Before you pass it.
Only an ass would sign a contract without reading it.

HIC!! Nancy Pelosi's Booze Bill is over 100K

Documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act by Judicial Watch, which investigates and prosecutes government corruption, show Pelosi incurred expenses of some $2.1 million for her use of Air Force jets for travelover that time.
The Speaker’s military travel cost the United States Air Force $2,100,744.59 over a two-year period — $101,429.14 of which was for in-flight expenses, including food and alcohol.

"Speaker Pelosi has a history of wasting taxpayer funds with her boorish demands for military travel," Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said today. "And these documents suggest the Speaker's congressional delegations are more about partying than anything else."

"Health Care Negotiations will be on C-SPAN"

Congressional "Transparency" on Healthcare
Healthcare Negotiations Pelosi Style
The C-SPAN television network is calling on congressional leaders to open health care talks to cameras — something President Barack Obama promised as a candidate.

Instead the most critical negotiations on Obama's health plan have taken place behind closed doors, as Republicans repeatedly point out. In a Dec. 30 letter to House and Senate leaders released Tuesday, C-SPAN chief executive Brian Lamb asked for negotiations on a compromise bill to be opened up for public viewing, as Democrats work to reconcile differences between legislation passed by the two chambers.
Reid, Pelosi and their Cronies won't even have a Conference Committee.

DEMS Get a $$$Green$$$ Christmas.... or should I say a $$$Green$$$ Holiday Season?

Harry and Nancy Deliver

The Democrats are right. Sleazy bribes and pork payoffs didn't start with their government health care takeover bill. They've been doling out taxpayer-funded goodies for votes all year. Harry Reid's latest Cash for Cloture deals are the culmination of Washington's 2009 shopping spree at our expense, writes Michelle Malkin....

A $54 million no-bid contract was awarded to a firm with little experience to relocate a luxury Bay Area wine train due to flood concerns......

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's backyard -- where he secured billions in high-speed rail stimulus earmarks from which he plans to fund a pie-in-the-sky public transportation line from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.......

Democratic districts have raked in nearly twice as much porkulus money as GOP districts -- without regard to the actual economic suffering and job loss in those districts.....Harry and Nancy Deliver

California Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters, who had already extracted $12 million in TARP funds for OneUnited, a minority-owned bank that is one of her key campaign donors and a company in which both Waters and her husband own massive amounts of stock......

$300 million "Louisiana Purchase" for Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu .........

$45 million "Cornhusker Kickback" for sellout Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska.......

Harry Reid Protects "Death Panels"

Sarah Palin Wrote....
No one is certain of what’s in the bill, but Senator Jim DeMint spotted one shocking revelation regarding the section in the bill describing the Independent Medicare Advisory Board (now called the Independent Payment Advisory Board), which is a panel of bureaucrats charged with cutting health care costs on the backs of patients – also known as rationing. Apparently Reid and friends have changed the rules of the Senate so that the section of the bill dealing with this board can’t be repealed or amended without a 2/3 supermajority vote......
In other words, Democrats are protecting this rationing “death panel” from future change with a procedural hurdle. You have to ask why they’re so concerned about protecting this particular provision. Could it be because bureaucratic rationing is one important way Democrats want to “bend the cost curve” and keep health care spending down?

The Congressional Budget Office seems to think that such rationing has something to do with cost....... CBO Director Douglas Elmendorf noted that the bill’s calculations call for a reduction in Medicare’s spending rate by about 2 percent in the next two decades, but then he writes the kicker: “It is unclear whether such a reduction in the growth rate could be achieved, and if so, whether it would be accomplished through greater efficiencies in the delivery of health care or would reduce access to care or diminish the quality of care.”
Though Nancy Pelosi and friends have tried to call “death panels” the “lie of the year,” this type of rationing – what the CBO calls “reduc[ed] access to care” and “diminish[ed] quality of care” – is precisely what I meant when I used that metaphor.

"Kill that Bill"

Pictures from Tim Phillips, AFP. Thanks Tim

"Kill that Bill"
That was the chant at the rally today in DC.
It was dreamed up by Rep. Michele Bachmann last Thursday. Presented on Friday on the Sean Hannity Show. Jon Voight joined in on Saturday. And in less than one week a huge crowd came to DC.
I couldn't tell you how big it was. I know it was over 20,000. I have been there when Madison Square Garden emptied out, and this was bigger. Sean Hannity said 25000. Jon Voight said 45000. My guess it is some where in between.

The crowd was, as Obama says, "FIRED UP".
Lots of home-made signs. Lots of flags. Lots of kids.

Voight spoke. He had some great lines. As did Mark Levin. There were a bunch of Republican Congressmen and women. They handed out pages from the Pelosi Bill to the people who were going to flood the capitol.
Long trip, but worth it. Even though my camera was left in my truck.

Nancy Pelosi says NO to America the Beautiful.

God Bless American is not allowed in Pelosi's Capitol
Michigan Republican Fred Upton sent a letter to House Chief Administrative Officer Daniel Beard, who reports to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, this week to protest the decision to switch the music while you are on "Hold" with a member of Congress:

Upon contacting CAO Telecommunications it has come to my attention that as of Tuesday, August 11th all “holding” music was changed at your request from the traditional patriotic songs to elevator music. CAO Telecommunications affirmed that congressional offices currently have no choice in the genre of music played, but merely are given the option between the elevator music on hold or no music at all, despite the fact that we’ve had the patriotic music for years!
According to Upton, no notification was sent to inform congressional offices of this change, and there was no monetary benefit to the taxpayers for making it. “Callers routinely express their delight in listening to a few notes of Americana while briefly waiting for their call to go through,” Upton writes, adding: “We should proudly embrace our nation’s patriotic songs, not callously shun them for elevator music.”
