"Enough," the Kentucky Republican Sen. Jim Bunning said as he stood in the way of Washington spending more money he said it didn't have on an extension of popular programs, according to WaPo. "Neither side has clean hands," Bunning said. "What matters is that we get our spending problems under control." Bunning was trying to get the Democrats to obey the law and follow PAYGO.
The newest Republican senator, Scott Brown of Massachusetts, said Bunning had done the right thing in holding up the measure. "I don't think it's about party, it's about good government.""The perception in Massachusetts and other parts of the country is that Washington is broken. And if it takes one guy to get up and make a stand, to point out that we need a funding source to pay for everything that's being pushed here, I think that speaks for itself."
Brown to Vote for Senate Jobs Bill Freshman Republican Sen. Scott Brown (R., Mass.) is to vote with the Democratic majority and support a crucial procedural motion on a $15 billion piece of legislation aimed at spurring job creation, an aide to the senator said Monday.
The move by Mr. Brown to break with most of his party's members in his first ever vote in the Senate is a significant development.
He will SEVERELY UPSET all the people who supported him. His issues as a State Senator seemed to put him in the Conservative Column. He definitely ran a conservative campaign.
He has stated that he wanted to decrease tax burdens. Sen. Brown has fought to lower taxes, specifically by cosponsoring a Republican caucus to repeal the harmful corporate tax increase of 2008 and also cosponsored another measure to extend investment tax credits to all industries in Massachusetts.
On CBS’s “Face the Nation” last weekend, Biden he said that Scott Brown doesn’t “know whether the new senator from Massachusetts understands: When you get tried in a military tribunal, you get a lawyer, too.”
“He’s trying to give me a lesson on military law, and I didn’t think it was appropriate,” Brown told POLITICO. “And I thought he was off base when it comes to explaining to the American people that somehow I need a lesson on whether people get attorneys — of course they get attorneys. There’s a difference as to what type of attorney they’re going to get and when they’re going to get that attorney, and how are they treated, and what rights do they, in fact, get.”
Brown said he is particularly incensed by Biden’s remarks because he’s served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard for more than 30 years and is currently the Guard's top defense attorney in New England.
Sen.-elect Scott Brown on Wednesday wants to be seated immediately, saying that while he is scheduled to be sworn in Feb. 11, "there are a number of votes scheduled prior to that date." He sent correspondence to Mass. Gov. to let him know. "Ceritfy me now" is the message. See the story here
Obama said, "The Senate certainly shouldn't try to jam anything through until Scott Brown is seated. People in Massachusetts spoke. He's got to be part of the process," The president suggested the same forces that elected Brown "swept me into office" in 2008. People are frustrated "not just because of what's happened in the last year or two years, but what's happened over the last eight years."Read more here
Or Is He Just Having A Brain Freeze???
Maybe Scott Brown should announce that he is running for President in a few months just like President Obama. HAHA. He would be equally qualified. VAVirtucon added a quip to that blog.

52% SCOTT BROWN (R) 1,153,808 47% MARTHA COAKLEY (D)D: 1,052,391
Scott Brown became the first Republican to win a U.S. Senate race in Massachusetts in 30 years Tuesday, seizing the seat held by the late Edward Kennedy.
State Attorney General Martha Coakley conceded just after 9 p.m., little more than an hour after the polls closed, The Boston Globe reported. She entered the race seemingly almost certain of victory, only to be defeated by Brown, a little-known state senator when he declared his candidacy.See the UPI story here
Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said THIS about Ted Kennedy's Senate seat...“Why would you hand the keys to the car back to the same guys whose policiesdrove the economy into the ditch and then walked away from the scene of the accident?” “For the Republicans to say vote for us and bring back the guys who got us into this mess in the first place, I don’t think it’s a winner.”
Doesn't this look like John Kerry in a hard fought campaign? Where is Teresa?
"I'm no stranger to hard fought campaigns, but what we've seen in the past few days is way over the line and reminiscent of the dangerous atmosphere of Sarah Palin's 2008 campaign rallies. This is not how democracy works in Massachusetts," John Kerry said this afternoon in a statement. "Scott Brown needs to speak up and get his out of state tea party supporters under control. In Massachusetts, we fight hard and win elections on the issues and on our differences, not with bullying and threats," Kerry said.
Brown campaign spokesman Felix Browne said, "People are tired of John Kerry's partisan politics. His baseless accusations reflect the desperate last gasps of a flailing campaign.""Scott Brown is running a positive campaign and has been since the beginning of the race,"
Imagine him sounding like Beavis, "I called him a tea-bagger, hahaha"
Sen.Charles"Chuck"Schumer called Massachusetts Republican Senate candidate Scott Brown a "far-right tea-bagger." He sent an email fund-raising letter out that used a term suggesting that the Massachusetts Senatorial Candidate engages in a deviant sexual act. For those of you who don't know what tea bagging is, click here. I am sure Chuckie will say, "No,No,No, I wasn't trying to slur his sexuality. I wasn't trying to bring questions out about his sexual preferences. I was referring to the support he is receiving from the Tea Party Supporters." "Chuck has a way of saying things that I don't think he really understands or means, and it's unfortunate," Scott Brown told Fox News Thursday when asked about the e-mail. "I'm not into name-calling. ... so shame on Chuck."
“That is the stupidest thing I’ve been asked in a long time. That is insane, the suggestion could only come from a demented right wing source,” erupted Representative Barney Frank (D – MA), when asked by The Washington Times about what he thought regarding assertions that Massachusetts Democrats would stall the certification process should Mr. Scott Brown win the Senate seat. “There isn’t the slightest possibility of it happening—a way of doing it. That is conspiracy theory at its most contemptible.” Here the audio here
Well Barney, the demented right wing source is the Dems The Boston Herald reported that, according to a source, Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin’s office wants to certify the race on Feb. 20.
Friday, a spokesman for Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin, who is overseeing the election but did not respond to a call seeking comment, said certification of the Jan. 19 election by the Governor’s Council would take a while.
“Because it’s a federal election,” spokesman Brian McNiff said. “We’d have to wait 10 days for absentee and military ballots to come in.”
Another source told the Herald that Galvin’s office has said the election won’t be certified until Feb. 20 - well after the president’s address.
And I don't Give a Damn what the Kennedys or Bushs Think ! ! !
GERGEN: Mr. Brown, ....... Are you willing under those circumstances to say, 'I'm going to be the person. I'm going to sit in Teddy Kennedy's seat and I'm going to be the person who's going to block it for another 15 years'?
BROWN: Well with all due respect its not the Kennedys' seat, and its not the Democrats' seat, it's the people's seat. And they have the chance to send somebody down there who is an independent voter, and an independent thinker and going to look out for the best interests of the people of Massachusetts.
