Notre Dame Coach Endorses McDonnell.

Lou Holtz, the legendary football coach who led Notre Dame to a national championship and is now an ESPN analyst, cracked jokes and shared stories with a standing room only crowd of Bob McDonnell supporters in Richmond tonight.

A sampling of Holtz's quips:

What do you call a former Redskins player with a Super Bowl ring? "Senior citzens."

"I know we have Democrats in here. I tried to use small words."

"Well, they may have a few more people with the president tomorrow, but it won't be as entertaining,'' McDonnell proclaimed.

VA Right Gets it right

Tom White over at VARight posts
Liberal Lies About McDonnell Thesis Exposed
He says that he has read McDonnell's Thesis. He believes that the media and the Deeds campaign(Is there a difference?) are distorting what he wrote.

"The first thing that jumps out at you from the very beginning is that the Democrats have lied about the tone of the entire thesis. It is decidedly not anti woman, but rather pro child (and pro-woman)."

Creigh Deeds actually showed up.

McDonnell, Deeds make pitches at Virginia Union.

Both Candidates appeared at the university, even though Creigh Deeds was afraid to be seen on the stage with Bob McDonnell.

McDonnell said he shares President Barack Obama's support for charter schools, which operate largely independent of a central bureaucracy, as a way to revive urban educational systems.

McDonnell said later that, while there is a Democratic tradition among blacks, "I'm not writing one vote off."

Creigh Deeds, Mark R. Warner, and John H. Chichester were all on hand to remind people that
CREIGH DEEDS WILL RAISE YOUR TAXES

Bob McDonnell Ad

H/T RtSideVA

Washington Post Flip Flops more than John Kerry.

They wrote..........
“Democrats in turn will try to depict former attorney general Robert F. McDonnell, the Republican nominee, as a right-wing zealot and Pat Robertson protégé. In fact, both candidates are serious public servants with long records that deserve more careful examination … Mr. McDonnell’s tenure as attorney general, by most accounts, has been professional and not overtly ideological.”
Editoral, The Washington Post
June 11, 2009

Then they wrote........
“Bob McDonnell … would make a divisive, disruptive and partisan governor — a sharp departure from the tradition of generally pragmatic executives who have helped make Virginia one of the better-managed states in the union.”
Editorial, The Washington Post

"Cooter" Deeds Just Doesn't Have His Priorities Correct

While Creigh "Cooter" Deeds is still trying to shift the discussion of the governor’s race onto social issues,Bob McDonnell remains steadfast in dealing with the issues that Virginians care about in their daily lives — jobs, the economy, taxes, transportation, and public safety. That is what he has done as a legislator and as our Attorney General and that is what Governor McDonnell will do come January 2010, Va Virtucon basically writes.

Washington Post uncovers McDonnell's Thesis. Still can't find President Obama's

It seems a little odd that the WaPo unearths a 20 year old document in an attempt to help Creigh Deeds, but still can't find any school records for the President.
Occidental College, Sorry can't find it
Columbia University,Nope, nothing here.
Harvard Law School,Still missing, but he was head of the Law Review.

The WaPo does have George Bush's SAT scores if you need them.

Blueweeds apparently doesn't like Mike Huckabee or poor people

BLUEWEEDS sounds like MSNBC.
Their headline doesn't match the story in the video.
The headline over at Blueweeds is
VIDEO: McDonnell Pledges Not To Help Northern Virginians Because We "Already Have It Made"
Notice it says McDonnell Pledges.
McDonnell is not in the video.
Buried at the bottom of the post it says The McDonnell campaign tried to distance itself from the remarks by reminding voters Huckabee was not expected to be on the ballot this fall.

Which is it Blue? Did McDonnell pledge? or did he distance himself? or do you have a problem with poor folk in Tazwell? or should your headline say, VIDEO: Huckabee thinks that Bob McDonnell will support the people who supported him?

Bearing Drift Bears me Out

"Actions speak louder than words
Specifically, when I see that one gubernatorial candidate has voted over 50 times to cut taxes in his career and another candidate voted for the largest tax increase in Virginia history, wanted to impose a 120% increase in the gas tax during a recession, voted for higher cigraette taxes, et al., I think it’s pretty clear to me as to who I can count on to keep my taxes low."
Bearing drift bears me out. He seems to agree with me that we know Bob McDonnell's record. We know Creigh Deeds. Who will raise our taxes? The answer is simple.

Washington Times buries McDonnell tax record at bottom.

Mr. McDonnell has a good record on taxes. As a lawmaker from Virginia Beach, he voted for about 50 tax cuts, collectively saving taxpayers more than $2 billion, but eyebrows at the Washington Times shot up Tuesday when Bob McDonnell told them he wasn't going to sign any pledge not to raise taxes. They didn't mention his record until the the last paragraph. Their editorial board was just stirring the pot to build controversy.
Bob McDonnell said "I will tell you exactly what I think, because I've answered your questions today, and I will tell you that I have no plans to raise taxes."

I would prefer if Bob McDonnell would sign the pledge. Signing the pledge would give some more confidence to many, but I don't expect him to run out and raise taxes.
I take him at his word that he doesn't plan to raise taxes.
It would be better if he let the voters and consumers know that we don't have to worry about higher taxes from at least one level of government.
Give the voters one more reason to vote for you. Create another difference between yourself and Sen.Deeds.
