Another Terrorist Nun.

Rations for Thee, None for me......

Professor Kevin Anderson, Director of the Tyndall Center for Climate Change Research, said the only way to reduce global emissions enough, while allowing the poor nations to continue to grow, is to halt economic growth in the rich world over the next twenty years.

This would mean a drastic change in lifestyles for many people in countries like Britain as everyone will have to buy less ‘carbon intensive’ goods and services such as long haul flights and fuel hungry cars.

Prof Anderson admitted it “would not be easy” to persuade people to reduce their consumption of goods

He said politicians should consider a rationing system similar to the one introduced during the last “time of crisis” in the 1930s and 40s.

This could mean a limit on electricity so people are forced to turn the heating down, turn off the lights and replace old electrical goods like huge fridges with more efficient models. Food that has traveled from abroad may be limited and goods that require a lot of energy to manufacture.

“The Second World War and the concept of rationing is something we need to seriously consider if we are to address the scale of the problem we face,” he said.

Prof Anderson insisted that halting growth in the rich world does not necessarily mean a recession or a worse lifestyle, it just means making adjustments in everyday life such as using public transport and wearing a sweater rather than turning on the heating.

“I am not saying we have to go back to living in caves,” he said. “Our emissions were a lot less ten years ago and we got by ok then.”

New Exhibit at Smithsonian.....

And We Wonder Why There Is A Budget Deficit???
CNSNews.com quotes David C. Ward, a National Portrait Gallery historian and co-curator of the Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture exhibit, as stating:
This is an exhibition that displays masterpieces of American portraiture and we wanted to illustrate how questions of biography and identity went into the making of images that are canonical.
The Smithsonian Institution has an annual budget of $761 million, 65 percent of which comes from the federal government, according to Linda St. Thomas, the Smithsonian's chief spokesperson. The National Portrait Gallery itself received $5.8 million in federal funding in fiscal year 2010, according to St. Thomas.

Colorado Dem... Reid has lame Duck Senate All "Rigged"

It is not Washington that is broken. It is the political hacks that are sent to Washington.
I can see 2012 from my house

Bennet's Chief of Staff, Guy Cecil, added to the senator’s comments.

“It’s something he’s been talking about from day one,” Cecil told The Daily Caller in an interview outside the Senate chamber. “The whole process being rigged against having a real conversation about tax cuts, the estate tax and the defense authorization. We’re not having a lot of those conversations. It’s just a symptom of Washington being broken.”

Hot Air says...
Harry Reid runs the majority caucus, and if he’s “rigging” the agenda, then the blame should fall on Reid and everyone who put him in the leadership position, not the geographical location of the capital.

Howard Dean,Former DNC Chair, wants to Trash the 1st Amendment

So we can preserve the direct election of Senators???

1st Amendment
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

17th Amendment
The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote. The electors in each State shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the State legislatures.

When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, That the legislature of any State may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct.

This amendment shall not be so construed as to affect the election or term of any Senator chosen before it becomes valid as part of the Constitution.

UPDATE: WEBB Votes For Earmarks.

Va Senator Jim Webb
Voted for Earmarks !!
Earmarks are funds provided by the Congress for projects, programs, or grants where the purported congressional direction (whether in statutory text, report language, or other communication) circumvents otherwise applicable merit-based or competitive allocation processes, or specifies the location or recipient.
There is no transparency or accountability in an earmark.
Earmarks are a very small part of the total budget of the United States. They don't cost us a lot of money, but they do cost us greatly in the integrity of Congress. They have a very poor appearance. They look like payoffs. U.S. Congressional members can secure hundreds of millions of dollars of funding for a project without subjecting it to debate by their colleagues in the Congress, or to the scrutiny and oversight of the public.
If the Senate won't stand against something as onerous as earmarks, will they ever stand against other wastes of tax dollars?

Republicans who voted for Earmarks
Bennett, Utah;

Cochran, Miss.;

Collins, Maine;

Inhofe, Okla.;

Lugar, Ind.;

Murkowski, Alaska;

Shelby, Ala.;

Voinovich, Ohio.

UPDATE: Americans for Prosperity and VaRight Noted the voting

The U.S. Senate today failed in a formal attempt to ban earmarks through fiscal year 2013.  Virginia Senator Mark Warner voted in favor of addressing the proposal, but Senator Jim Webb did not.  Americans for Prosperity’s Virginia State Director Ben Marchi today issued the following statement:
“Evidently, too many members of the United States Senate did not hear the overwhelming voices of the citizens of America on Election Day earlier this month.  Sadly, Jim Webb is one of those who continued to ignore the people’s clearly-expressed frustration with the runaway growth of the federal government.  Senator Webb had a choice today: stand with the people, or stand with government.  Unfortunately, he chose the latter...... Who's Your Daddy?

There have been some interesting answers on  forms concerning who is the father of the child. It is undetermined if any of them are true, but they are funny and sad.

* Regarding the identity of the father of my twins, child A was fathered by John Smith. I am unsure as to the identity of the father of child B, but I believe that he was conceived on the same night.
* I am unsure as to the identity of the father of my child as I was being sick out of a window when taken unexpectedly from behind. I can provide you with a list of names of men that I think were at the party if this helps.
Artist: G. Taylor Title: Woman Looking out a Window
* I do not know the name of the father of my little girl. She was conceived at a party where I had unprotected sex with a man I met that night. I do remember that the sex was so good that I fainted. If you do manage to track down the father can you send me his phone number? Thanks.
* I don't know the identity of the father of my daughter. He drives a BMW that now has a hole made by my stiletto heel in one of the door panels. Perhaps you can contact BMW service stations in this area and see if he's had it replaced.
* I have never had sex with a man. I am awaiting a letter from the Pope confirming that my son's conception was immaculate and that he is Christ risen again.

* I cannot tell you the name of child A's dad as he informs me that to do so would blow his cover and that would have cataclysmic implications for the British economy. I am torn between doing right by you and right by my country. Please advise.

* John Smith is the father of child A. If you do catch up with him can you ask him what he did with my AC/DC CDs?
* From the dates it seems that my daughter was conceived at Euro Disney — maybe it really is the Magic Kingdom.
* So much about that night is a blur. The only thing that I remember for sure is Delia Smith did a program about eggs earlier in the evening. If I'd have stayed in and watched more TV rather than going to a party, [my eggs] might have remained unfertilized.

Tau Epsilon Phi Being Sued By It's Members.....

The 100 year old Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity, whose alumni include Dr. Jonas Salk, Benny Goodman, Adam Sandler, Rick Santorum, Michael Steele, Red Auerbach, George Stephanopoulos,Judge Joseph Wapner, and this blogger; has been having some problems, and a little lawsuit.

The lawsuit, filed in September by dozens of fraternity members, seeks, among other things, to remove the national executive director, George Hasenberg, whom it accused of operating the fraternity for his personal gain and driving chapters away by making unreasonable financial demands while providing little or no service.

A World of Stupid

FedEx officials called off a search for an errant shipment of low-level radioactive material after finding the unmarked package in their Knoxville station Friday.....

It was one of three boxes containing rods of GE 68 or Germanium-68, a radioactive isotope that is used in quality-control calibrations of CT scans................

"It was in our custody all this time," said FedEx spokeswoman Sandra Munoz.
"As long as no one tries to open the cylinder, there's no exposure," Munoz said. "The exposure from this rod, you'd have to be in close contact with it for 1,000 hours to get a skin blister."

Boy, there’s a world of stupid in that wacky statement, according to wormme

Cheapest Days to Shop Online

ShopItToMe.com, which scours sales at more than 100 online retailers.
Dozens of sites like RetailMeNot and Bargainist collect promotional codes for discounts on Web purchases. To find them on your own, try Googling the name of the shopping site with the words “coupon code”  or “promotion code.”
Many retailers offer free shipping promotions from time to time or have thresholds at which they’ll ship for free.  But, some of my favorite online shops such as Endless, RevolveClothing, Shopbop, and Piperlime, always offer free shipping.

Blog Prof educates on Abortion....

Copied From Blogprof
The opinions presented are his own.
The Professor writes......
AP headline over at the Detroit News: Study: More than 600,000 people killed by 2nd-hand smoke every year. Shock! Outrage! Ban smoking! Torches and pitchforks! The study itself is a farce because you simply cannot gauge how much 2nd hand smoke someone breathes, much less a total number for the entire planet. But 'scientists' did just that and then:

...estimated that passive smoking causes about 379,000 deaths from heart disease, 165,000 deaths from lower respiratory disease, 36,900 deaths from asthma and 21,400 deaths from lung cancer a year.

It isn't an estimate in the sense that they interpolated available data. It is a fabrication. A figment of someone's imagination. Here is a far bigger number that isn't a figment of anyone's imagination because it causes death instantly - 42 million babies die each year at the hands of abortionists. Why doesn't the AP wring its wrists and gnash their teeth in opining that abortion be banned rather than smoking because of so many deaths? In fact, abortion is the #3 cause of death worldwide after heart disease and stroke (the WHO of course doesn't list abortion, but just check the numbers).

I bet most readers don't know that the #1 risk factor for getting breast cancer in women is abortion. Breast cancer results in about 500,000 deaths annually. So pretty much the secondary effects of abortion (2nd hand abortion?) are just as bad as the secondary effects of smoking. Why doesn't the AP chew on that for a while?

Seller, beware: Feds cracking down on garage sales

If you're planning a garage sale or organizing a church bazaar, you'd best beware: You could be breaking a new federal law. As part of a campaign called Resale Roundup, the federal government is cracking down on the secondhand sales of dangerous and defective products.
If you sell a recalled product, you are in violation of Fed Law.
