Obama's Home Town Goes Republican.
Honolulu city councilman Charles Djou won a special election to fill a vacant seat in Congress, becoming only the second Republican in Hawaii's history to represent the Aloha state in the House of Representatives.
"I think we sent a clear message to Washington, D.C., that we are spending too much money and that we need more fiscal responsibility," Djou said Saturday night while standing outside Hawaii's Republican Party headquarters. "I look forward to going to Washington, D.C., and Congress to do exactly that."

Dems real worried about Special Elections
The Dems are working feverishly to prevent a very real scenario in which the two top Democrats split the party vote in Hawaii, and enable Republican Charles Djou to capture the heavily Democratic seat in Hawaii’s May 22 all-party special election.
In Pensylvania, John Murtha’s longtime top aide Mark Critz is running against area businessman and political newcomer Tim Burns.
Mark Critz is uniquely vulnerable to being painted as a political insider at time when that is no asset.
“Locally, there’s a lot of anger, people know things aren’t right. And it taps into the general anxiety out there that things are on the wrong track,” Barbara Hafer
