According to the NewsVirginian, Delegate Richard Bell is being denied 15 days leave for political duties.
The 20th District representative said he would not have asked for the civic leave “if it was not consistent” with what other teacher/General Assembly members are granted.
This leave is expressly permitted by the Augusta School Board rules.
Why is Augusta County denying Delegate Bell the same privileges enjoyed by other citizen legislators?
Why is Delegate Bell being transferred to Stuarts Draft High School?
It seems that Augusta County is burning its bridges.
Does it make any sense to deny our delegate the same privileges that other teacher/delegates receive?
Does it make sense to create feelings of ill will with any of our elected officials?
As a citizen, I want to have our representatives feeling proud of their home area.
As a parent, I want out delegate to work for the benefit of our schools.

What is the real reason they are punishing Dickie?
ReplyDeleteI cant confirm, but rumor has it that McSwainwas not paid proper deference last year.
ReplyDeleteEducational "Politics"?...
ReplyDeleteI have heard of stories about how powerful the educational "Unions" can be even if there is not a structured one such as in this case. I remember a conservative teacher back in high school who would get hassled whenever possible by the staff when he did not march in lock step...
Without a doubt its even bigger in the colleges but it would be foolish to treat Delegate Bell like this for all to see....
