No one who is innocent pleads guilty.
They might not be guilty of "exactly" what was charged, but they are guilty.
A former Detroit city councilwoman, Monica Conyers, was sentenced to more than three years in prison Wednesday for bribery after a federal judge refused to set aside her guilty plea during a stormy court hearing dominated by a dispute over evidence of other payoffs.
Monica Conyers yelled that wanted to withdraw her guilty plea.

In a November 2007 call, Conyers said, "You'd better get my loot."
Maybe she can spend "her loot" in the general population?
