Golfer-in-Chief plays his 52nd game in office

CBS News Radio White House correspondent Knoller tweeted:

It's a beautiful 77° & sunny in DC and Pres Obama has gone to Andrews AFB for a round of golf. His 52nd since taking office.

Lets do the math....
He has been in office for about 625 days or so. He has played golf 52. That works out to 1 game every 12 days or so. The PGA Leaders play about the same number of tournaments. Tiger has only played in 12 this year.

When U.S. President Barack Obama stepped off his helicopter in Huntsville(Canada) on Friday, the first thing he said was, “You’ve got a lot of golf courses here, don’t you?”

Industry Minister Tony Clement told the National Post in an exclusive interview. “I told him, ‘We would really recommend and love it if you could come back here with Michelle and the kids at some point — we think you’d really love it here,’” Minister Clement said on the sidewalk of Huntsville’s Main Street, in his home riding. “I think I’ve planted a seed in the President’s mind.” See more here

On a cool but sun-drenched Sunday, the president and three golfing companions went to Andrews Air Force Base to play 18 holes. It is the 32nd time Mr. Obama has played golf since taking office Jan. 20, 2009, according to CBS Radio's Mark Knoller.

After canceling the Poland trip on Saturday, the White House announced that Mr. Obama had no public schedule for Sunday. He was to have arrived in Krakow in the morning, attend the 2 p.m. funeral and leave for home by 5 p.m., arriving back at the White House after midnight.

Today, as the nation's law enforcement agencies respond to an attempted terrorist attack on U.S. soil, as the cable news channels and news websites pull in reinforcements to cover the incident from all angles, President Obama has been silent.

In fact, he's been golfing. He received a counterterrorism briefing early this morning, Hawaii time, and moments later, left for the gym. The president's vacation activities might have become the subject of a fierce partisan fight -- but really, the only carping is coming from the usual suspects on the right.
