Company on Decision to Pull Ads from Beck TV Show: 'We Do Not Want to be Associated with Hateful Speech'
"I can confirm that Sargento has instructed our media buyer to not buy advertising that would appear during the Glenn Beck Show," Gannon said in an e-mail to the Business & Media Institute on Aug. 14. "We market our products to people regardless of their political affiliations. As a business, we sometimes disagree with the administration's policies. Yet we do not want to be associated with hateful speech used by either liberal or conservative television hosts."I am not a fan of organized boycotts. I prefer to let the market run freely. But if the Anti-Speech folk are going to pressure companies into silly behavior, I might as well match their silly behavior, and boycott the boycotters.

UPDATE ! ! !
Earlier this month, GEICO instructed its ad buyer "to redistribute its inventory of rotational spots" to other Fox-TV programs, ColorofChange said in a statement, citing an email received from GEICO. "As of August 4, GEICO no longer runs any paid advertising spots during Mr. Beck's program," the email read.
Among other sponsors who have pulled their ads from Beck's show are household products companies Procter & Gamble (PG) and SC Johnson, and another insurer, Progressive Insurance (PGR), ColorofChange said. Progressive Insurance rep Cristy Cote said that the company wants to "avoid programming that we believe our customers and potential customers might find extremely offensive."
