What if the Corporations and their Owners all move to the Caribbean?

Investors Business Daily Reports....
The top 5% pay 60.6% of federal income taxes, while earning 37% of adjusted gross income. The top 10% pay 71.2% of income taxes, while earning 48% of adjusted gross income.

Meanwhile, the bottom 50% of income earners pay only 2.9% of federal income taxes. Indeed, the bottom 95% of income earners pay 39.4% of all federal income taxes. That means the top 1% of income earners pay more federal income taxes than the bottom 95%!

Leaving on a Jet Plane
Today we live in a smaller world. We are connected digitally. But we can move. Many people leave one state and go to another to avoid taxes. John Kerry did it with his yacht.

The rich can move. Rush moved from NY to Florida. LeBron moved from Cleveland. The NYSE does not have to be in NY anymore. Telecommuting, teleconferencing, etc.. can accomplish business across continents. What if the rich move all their assets to Andorra, the Bahamas,or Monaco? What if they move their companies to Barbados, the United Arab Emirates, or Panama?

  1. And what if all of the retired NYC employees take there bloated pensions, from years of earning bloated salaries, paid for by the higher taxes you're complaining about, and move to more affordable areas like Virginia to spend their pension money.

Oh, I know, you weren't overpaid, its just everyone else on the city payroll that was and still is.

    You're too funny.

  2. You are making my point, Thank You. I can leave. NYC retirees are living everywhere else.

If you want people to remain, it has to be comparable. Why pay 8K in real estate taxes, when I can pay 1.5K? Why pat 8.75% sales tax?

I never said anything about the NYC spending, but now that you mention it, They spent a whole lotta money. Of course NYC was the LOWEST paid police department in the area when I retired. Nassau County, Suffolk County, Port Authority etc were all paid higher. Bloated is comparative. If they want
In Virginia, you can still buy a 3 bedroom house for under $125,000. In Brooklyn,3 bedroom homes start at 325K.
