Waynesboro Stabbing.

The Waynesboro Police Department is investigating the stabbing death of a 38 year old Waynesboro man that occurred in the alley behind 260 N. Commerce Ave.

Officers were summoned to the scene at approximately 9:10 P.M., June 27th, 2010 and on arrival found the victim bleeding heavily from a stab wound where he had collapsed near the intersection of 7TH Street and N. Delphine Ave. He was rushed to Augusta Health by the Waynesboro First Aid Crew where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigation reveals that an altercation occurred in the alley between the victim and at least one other person when he was stabbed at least once in the torso. The victim then ran and collapsed where he was found by responding officers. It was further determined that four male Hispanic subjects, including the assailant, fled in a primer black Ford, possibly late 80’s model Taurus or Escort. No tag or direction of travel was observed.

Additionally it was reported that some of the subjects involved have ongoing gang affiliations, however it is undetermined whether tonight’s altercation itself was gang related.

Police are withholding the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin and request anyone with information about the case or the location of suspect(s) or vehicle to contact the department at 540-942-6675 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-322-2017.
