Hey Dylan, Do you know what a monopoly is?
He talks about a "monopoly" and showing not 1,not2, not 3, but 4 companies whose stock price has risen. Hmmmm, Doesn't "Monopoly" mean ONE?
A monopoly a single firm is the sole provider of a product or service.
Now he might have had a greater foundation if he alleged an insurance cartel, but as a professional "journalist" he should know the difference, right?
Mr. Ratigan should learn about the insurance business.
Here is a partial list of different insurance companies.
* Aetna
* American Association of Retired Persons
* American Family Insurance
* American National Insurance Company
* Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield
* Assurant
* Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association
* Cigna
* EmblemHealth
* Fortis
* Golden Rule Insurance Company
* Group Health Cooperative
* Health Net

That is over 30 Dylan. Does 30 make a "monopoly"?
Now we can easily multiply that number since many operate seperate companies in 50 states. And then there are lots of smaller companies providing insurance.
There are Long Term Care providers such as
* Aflac
* Allianz
* Allstate
* Bankers Life and Casualty Company
* Genworth
* John Hancock Insurance
* Mutual of Omaha
* New York Life Insurance
* Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company
* Prudential Financial
* State Farm Insurance
* Thrivent Financial for Lutherans
Health-Insurance Carriers. com lists over 50 main companies .
Does 50 equal a "Monopoly" Mr.Ratigan?
Mr.Ratigan, how are those other 46 companies doing?
Or did you bother to look?
Or do you care?
