Just a note on bowing

The Declaration of Independence states..........
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal...........

That these united Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States, that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do.
That means.........
We threw off the yoke of servitude in 1776.
We do not recognize the divine right of a monarchy.
We do not bow down before a king.
We are free.
We may bow WITH a person mutually, if that is their form of greeting, but not in subservience.


Even the NY Times knows better. They said in 1994.........
But the "thou need not bow" commandment from the State Department's protocol office maintained a constancy of more than 200 years.
Will they say the same in 2009?
