well the only privatization plans I heard of were gradual. And it was for the younger investors.Either way, the options available for the investments would have been along the lines of funds such as S&P500, Dow, or Russell. Social Security was set up for people with a life expectancy of 59, and didn't pay out till 65. If you set up almost any plan based on the market as a whole, your investments will outpace inflation and the returns on SS over 43 year period. Retirement funds will livewith the ups and downs of the market. (Dollar cost averaging)
