The LA Times "reports"...........
While millions of Americans struggle to find work as they face foreclosures and bankruptcy, others have found a silver lining in the economic meltdown. These happily jobless tend to be single and in their 20s and 30s. Some were laid off. Some quit voluntarily, lured by generous buyouts.
Buoyed by severance, savings, unemployment checks or their parents, the funemployed do not spend their days poring over job listings. They travel on the cheap for weeks. They head back to school or volunteer at the neighborhood soup kitchen. And at least till the bank account dries up, they're content living for today.
I don't remember this sort of baloney during the Reagan years, or Gearge W.'s.
Where were all these "cool" unemployed then?
I remember Mitch Snyder going on hunger strikes, and demonstrating and grossly inflating the number of homeless. Snyder was known to exaggerate the problem of homelessness in order to call attention to the problem. During the 1980s Snyder also claimed that there were 3 million homeless Americans, but when questioned about the source of this figure, he admitted that he had made it up to please journalists. He is also alleged to have said that 45 homeless people die every second (which would mean that 1.4 billion die every year)When are we going to get the stories about all the homeless caused by Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae?
