Was Zelaya's removal a coup, or the unanimous actions of a congress in fear for democracy?

Sunday's military powerplay was different in important ways from the traditional Latin American putsch. The generals move came at the unanimous--yes unanimous--behest of a congress outraged by Zelaya's not-particularly-subtle attempts to extend his hold on power indefinitely. It followed a series of clearly unconstitutional moves on Zelaya's part, including his attempt to unilaterally remove the chief of the army, which, according to Honduras's Constitution, can only be done by a congressional super-majority. Francisco Toro writes over at the New Republic.
And congress's request had been seconded by the nation's Supreme Court, which is sworn to uphold a constitution that explicitly makes the act of "inciting, promoting or backing the continuation in power or re-election of the President of the Republic" punishable with the loss of Honduran citizenship.

Hypocrisy runs wild with Obama.

OPT OUT of Obamacare.

Theyare reporting at Foxnews........
Under Arizona's Health Care Freedom Act, which was passed by the state legislature this week, a voting initiative will be placed on the 2010 ballot that, if passed, will allow the state to opt out of any federal health care plan. Five other states -- Indiana, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota and Wyoming -- are considering similar initiatives for their 2010 ballots.
"Our health care freedoms are very much at risk by health care reforms proposed in Washington, D.C.," said Arizona state Rep. Nancy Barto, the Republican legislator who sponsored the measure. "We needed to act as a state to protect our citizens and ensure that they will always be able to buy their own health care and not be forced into a plan they don't want."

OBAMA: Read my lips, no new taxes. JUST LIKE BUSH 41
Whoops, didn't he say this...........
He said not one form of tax increase.None, zero, nada, zilch for anyone making less than $250K. He made fun of John McCain for the idea of taxing health care benefits.
MUST WATCH ! ! ! The ultimate in hypocrisy.
Sarah is sad for poor John Kerry.
Pile of Sh**
When asked why he read portions of the cap-and-trade bill (H R 2454 American Clean Energy and Security Act) on the floor Friday night, John Boehner told The Hill, "Hey, people deserve to know what's in this pile of s--t."
Using his privilege as leader to speak for an unlimited time on the House floor, Boehner spent an hour reading from the 1200-plus page bill that was amended 20 hours before the lower chamber voted 219-212 to approve it.
Only eight Republicans voted with Democrats to pass the bill

The World is Watching Iran, and you too Mr.President.
Charles Krauthammer writes,
Millions of Iranians take to the streets to defy a theocratic dictatorship that, among its other finer qualities, is a self-declared enemy of America and the tolerance and liberties it represents. The demonstrators are fighting on their own, but they await just a word that America is on their side.
And what do they hear from the president of the United States? Silence. Then, worse. Three days in, the president makes clear his policy: continued "dialogue" with their clerical masters...............
People aren't dying in the street because they want a recount of hanging chads in suburban Isfahan. They want to bring down the tyrannical, misogynist, corrupt theocracy that has imposed itself with the very baton-wielding goons that today attack the demonstrators.......................
And where is our president? Afraid of "meddling." Afraid to take sides between the head-breaking, women-shackling exporters of terror -- and the people in the street yearning to breathe free. This from a president who fancies himself the restorer of America's moral standing in the world.

Where's Timmy? Off on another DNC trip?
Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Pat Mullins today issued a Freedom of Information Act request to the office of Governor Tim Kaine, seeking documents related to the governor’s travel schedule and expenses tied to his role as chairman of the Democratic National Committee.
“At a time when Virginia is facing an economic crisis it hasn’t seen in decades, our governor seems to be spending a lot of his time in other parts of the country,” Pat Mullins,RPV Chair said. “Worse yet, he and his staff have steadfastly refused requests from the media for information about his travel schedule. We think Virginians deserve to know where their governor is, particularly when so many of them are wondering how to put food on the table and take care of their families.”

46 Mil is such a bogus #
Over at Newsbusters, they say, Journalists have used the statistic of 46 million-47 million uninsured Americans, but as Seymour told Fox Business, this number was wildy inflated. “The Census Bureau comes up with this number and they said that the number of uninsured is really 45.6 million people. But that's total people, and that includes almost 10 million who are non-citizens,” Seymour clarified.
Seymour also broke the statistic further down, explaining that almost 9 million were young people who didn’t need of health insurance, and 9 million were those who make more than $75,000 and chose not to buy insurance.
Seymour spelled out to host Stuart Varney that contrary to what the media have told their viewers, the number of “chronically uninsured,” according to the liberal Kaiser Family Foundation, was only somewhere between 8 million and 13 million people.
In a different article by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association finds more than 14 million of the 41 million uninsured are eligible for Medicaid or the State Children’s Health Insurance Plan (SCHIP), but have not enrolled.
According to the Blue Cross study, 5.7 million are short-term insured, such as recent college graduates or people between jobs. The report also indicates 5.2 million uninsured are in three states with a high number of illegal immigrants: California, Texas, and New York.

Sotmayor Resigns from Elite All Woman Club. She must have read my blog. HAHA

Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor resigned from an elite all-women's club after Republicans questioned her participation in it. (See original post here)
Sotomayor said she resigned from the Belizean Grove to prevent the issue from becoming a distraction in her confirmation hearings.( too late)
"The Belizean Grove is a constellation of influential women who are key decision makers in the profit, non-profit and social sectors; who build long term mutually beneficial relationships in order to both take charge of their own destinies and help others to do the same," the group says on its Web site.
Children should be protected.
Promise to Protect was established as an outgrowth of the work of the National Association to Protect Children (PROTECT). Through PROTECT’s work in the public arena for abused children, its founders and supporters saw an important unmet need: a "think tank" on child protection, offering real-world policy ideas, model legislation and citizen activism.
Promise to Protect does not take any government funding, but we welcome support from individuals, corporations and foundations.

Guess who wrote the article that the following excepts are from.......
President Obama's first Supreme Court nominee is a member of an all-women's club called the Belizean Grove.
If Obama had nominated a man who was a member of an all male club, that would be a big issue and probably a fatal one. So how is it different if Sotomayor is a member of a club set up specifically to be the female equivalent?
It's the openly expressed purpose of this organization is to create a female elite.
Sotomayor chose to make the preposterous argument that the Belizean Grove isn't a women's club. It's just that no men have ever applied for membership, you see. White clubs used to explain the absence of black members the same way. It's a laughable argument -- a brazen whopper -- and an insult to the citizenry and the Senate that must confirm her.

Blogger points out more differences on McDonnell/Deeds
* In his 14 years in the House of Delegates, Bob McDonnell voted more than 50 times to cut taxes, resulting in over $2 billion in tax cuts.
* He was Chief Sponsor of legislation to kill the Death Tax.
* Bob McDonnell led the charge for some of Virginia’s most significant legislative progress including welfare-to-work.
* Bob McDonnell received multiple 100% rankings from the National Federation of Independent Business.
* As Attorney General he fought to eliminate fraud in the Medicare system, ensuring that taxpayer dollars are being used wisely and efficiently.
* As Attorney General, Bob McDonnell proactively cut his office’s budget by nearly 15%. In 2008 he voluntarily gave back his state car and cut his own salary as well. These cuts saved Virginia taxpayers close to $4 million.
* As Attorney General, Bob McDonnell called for the permanent elimination of Virginia’s 400th Anniversary Vehicle Registration Fee after the commemoration concluded.
* As Attorney General, Bob McDonnell established the Government and Regulatory Reform Task Force to eliminate burdensome and duplicative government regulations and ensure that regulations do not unnecessarily hinder free enterprise.
* In 2007, Directorship magazine recognized that due in part to Attorney General McDonnell’s leadership on business liability and tort reform Virginia ranked Virginia #2 in the nation for its pro-business climate.

Bearing Drift Bears me Out

"Actions speak louder than words
Specifically, when I see that one gubernatorial candidate has voted over 50 times to cut taxes in his career and another candidate voted for the largest tax increase in Virginia history, wanted to impose a 120% increase in the gas tax during a recession, voted for higher cigraette taxes, et al., I think it’s pretty clear to me as to who I can count on to keep my taxes low."
Bearing drift bears me out. He seems to agree with me that we know Bob McDonnell's record. We know Creigh Deeds. Who will raise our taxes? The answer is simple.
Bush speaks out on some policy issues
"I know it's going to be the private sector that leads this country out of the current economic times we're in," the former president said to applause from members of a local business group. "You can spend your money better than the government can spend your money."
Repeatedly in his hourlong speech and question-and-answer session, Mr. Bush said he would not directly criticize the new president, who has moved to take over financial institutions and several large corporations.

There is no opinion except Obama's opinion. So it is written, so it is done.
ABC is refusing to air paid ads during its White House health care presentation, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned, including a paid-for alternative viewpoint!
The development comes a day after the network denied a request by the Republican National Committee to feature a representative of the party's views during the Obama special.
Conservatives for Patients Rights requested the rates to buy a 60-second spot immediately preceding 'Prescription for America'.
Statement from Rick Scott, chairman of Conservatives for Patients Rights:
"It is unfortunate - and unusual - that ABC is refusing to accept paid advertising that would present an alternative viewpoint for the White House health care event. Health care is an issue that touches every American and all potential pieces of legislation have carried a pricetag in excess of $1 trillion of taxpayers' money. The American people deserve a healthy, robust debate on this issue and ABC's decision - as of now - to exclude even paid advertisements that present an alternative view does a disservice to the public. Our organization is more than willing to purchase ad time on ABC to present an alternative viewpoint and our hope is that ABC will reconsider having such viewpoints be part of this crucial debate for the American people. We were surprised to hear that paid advertisements would not be accepted when we inquired and we would certainly be open to purchasing time if ABC would reconsider."

Global Warming finally has a real effect

Prominent MIT physicist and global warming skeptic, Richard Lindzen, was recently refused the services of a Boston-area art appraiser because of global warming.
Prof. Lindzen is a recipient of the American Meteorological Service’s Meisinger, and Charney Awards, the American Geophysical Union’s Macelwane Medal, and the Leo Huss Walin Prize. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, and the Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters, and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences, the American Geophysical Union and the American Meteorological Society. He is a corresponding member of the NAS Committee on Human Rights, and has been a member of the NRC Board on Atmospheric Sciences and Climate and the Council of the AMS.
Lindzen had a recent house fire, an 18th century oriental rug was burnt, and needed an appraisal of its value for our insurance. They were referred to a dealer, who agreed to do the appraisal.
However, when his wife, Nadine, brought the burnt rug to the appraiser, he rudely turned her away saying that he had sent me an email explaining his position…
Here’s the text of the art appraiser’s e-mail to Lindzen:
I am sorry to inform you that after some consideration, I’ve decided not to perform the appraisal service that you’ve requested. Your writing on the subject of global warming is offensive to me personally, and I feel that I would have difficulty being an impartial appraiser of value given my view on the subject.

Republicans Need to Grow a Sense of Humor
Well Steven,Republicans have a great sense of humor. How else do explain some of our recent candidates for office?
But I think you have it wrong in your piece. I don't think Republicans are complaining because they are offended, though some may be. What Republicans are complaining about is the hypocrisy, the double standard. If anyone made a similar comment about a Democrats daughter, it would be front page news everyday. Washington Times buries McDonnell tax record at bottom.

Mr. McDonnell has a good record on taxes. As a lawmaker from Virginia Beach, he voted for about 50 tax cuts, collectively saving taxpayers more than $2 billion, but eyebrows at the Washington Times shot up Tuesday when Bob McDonnell told them he wasn't going to sign any pledge not to raise taxes. They didn't mention his record until the the last paragraph. Their editorial board was just stirring the pot to build controversy.
Bob McDonnell said "I will tell you exactly what I think, because I've answered your questions today, and I will tell you that I have no plans to raise taxes."
I would prefer if Bob McDonnell would sign the pledge. Signing the pledge would give some more confidence to many, but I don't expect him to run out and raise taxes.
I take him at his word that he doesn't plan to raise taxes.
It would be better if he let the voters and consumers know that we don't have to worry about higher taxes from at least one level of government.
Give the voters one more reason to vote for you. Create another difference between yourself and Sen.Deeds.

In addition to protesting excessive government spending, Kremer said the organization will also emphasize citizen opposition to government-run health care.
"They are going on all across the country," Kremer said. "Last time it was on one day; this time it is all July 4 weekend. We will have more tea parties this time around than we did last time, for sure."

Oath-Keepers. Sounds like some serious dudes.
Oath Keepers is an association of currently serving military, veterans, and peace officers who will fulfill the oath we swore to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, so help us God.
Their oath is to the Constitution, not to the politicians, and they will not obey unconstitutional (and thus illegal) and immoral orders, such as orders to disarm the American people or to place them under martial law and deprive them of their ancient right to jury trial.
"We Oath Keepers have drawn a line in the sand. We will not “just follow orders."
Our motto is “Not on our watch!”
There are thousands of active duty and veteran military joining Oath Keepers, as well as active duty and retired law enforcement officers, according to Russell D. Longcore

Obama Snubs Mayors. Refuses to Lead.
In his speech to the conference Saturday, Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, president of the USCM, suggested the administration was unwilling to make the kind of tough political choices that mayors must make every day.
“We have no choice. None of us in this room are insulated from the economic challenges faced by the city of Providence. This will not be the last time this administration will be asked to make a similar choice,” said Diaz, a former Democrat turned independent who endorsed Obama in 2008. “This is why the administration is setting a very dangerous precedent. Our president has called on all Americans to sacrifice. Mayors have sacrificed before, and we will do it again. But we must not be asked to bear this burden alone. Sacrifice often means doing things that we don’t want to do; doing things we don’t like to do; doing things that keep us all up at night.”
“This is no longer a campaign, where slogans and sound bites dominate the day. This is the time to govern, and all of us know this because this is what mayors do 24 hours a day.”
Listen to this Mayor. ARROGANT
Controversy
Known as much for his temper as his work ethic, many allegations surfaced throughout Finkbeiner's two terms, and more continue to surface in his third.
* Toledo restaurateur John Skiadas filed a law-suit alleging that Finkbeiner physically and verbally assaulted him at the Erie Street Market in 2000. The lawsuit was dismissed by Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Charles Wittenberg in 2004.
* Erie Street Market which has become a money pit.
* In March, 1999, Mr. Finkbeiner called for a boycott of Little Caesar’s Pizza because the franchise owners’ involvement in a proposed Rossford sports arena. Some Little Caesar’s stores renamed their Crazy Bread “Carty Bread.”
* In her lawsuit filed in 1999, former city employee Carolyn Smithers claimed that Mr. Finkbeiner “accosted her with a ceramic coffee mug clenched in his fist” and shouted, “I ought to hit you with this!” She contends the mug struck the side of her face. Despite the fact that Finkbeiner denied the incident, Finkbeiner signed the $35,000 settlement on Jan. 29, 2001.
* In 1997, Finkbeiner phoned a 19-year-old West Toledo woman from his car to tell her that she may not keep chickens in her yard. Finkbeiner not only denied her a permit to keep the chickens, but he also "got very, very mad" at her.
* Finkbeiner was the focus of a segment on the Daily Show poking fun at statements he made suggesting that Toledo could be the next Hollywood. During the interview, Carty expressed his ideas while the camera fixated on Toledo's most rundown neighborhoods, contrasting them with the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. The segment aired during the 1997-98 season.
* On July 1, 1998, Finkbeiner was fined $400 and court costs after pleading guilty to ethics charges when he was Mayor, realized a $10,000 profit from Owens Corning's purchase of his condo, and his failure to publicly report the gain
* He plagiarized a single line in his KICK-OFF speech in 1998.
* Finkbeiner suggested relieving the problem of noise complaints from neighbors of Toledo Express Airport by selling homes nearby at low cost to deaf people.
* In early 2006, political adversaries scoffed over the Mayor spending $9,996 of city money to complete the installation of shower facilities in his City Government building office. The project was considered "controversial" in part because the shower quote was originally $10,006, six dollars over a threshold that requires approval from City Council. The contractor was able to shave $10 from the project, thus avoiding a Council vote on the proposal.
* In May 2006, he called Toledo's African-American Fire Chief Michael Bell “King Kong” at a staff meeting. Finkbeiner later clarified his remarks as relating to the Chiefs physical stature, and Chief Bell has acknowledged in public that he took no offense to the remarks.
* In June 2006, Jack Smith resigned from his brief tenure as Chief of Police after what he described as a near-physical confrontation with the mayor after they exchanged words.
* In January 2007, Finkbeiner claimed that both he and wife Amy were treated unprofessionally by Ottawa County sheriff's deputies when they tried to visit Amy's son, an inmate, on separate occasions. Amy Finkbeiner claimed she was not allowed to use a ladies' room at the jail, while Finkbeiner said he was denied a chance to visit after visiting hours had concluded. Sheriff Bob Bratton said the deputies were only doing their jobs.
* Also, in January 2007 Finkbeiner and his press secretary were sued by radio station WSPD, claiming that First Amendment provisions regarding freedom of the press were violated when the press secretary forcibly kept a station employee out of a public press conference. Finkbeiner's objection to the employee is that he produces opinions and editorials, and is not in fact a reporter on behalf of WSPD. On January 31, a federal judge granted the station a permanent injunction requiring Finkbeiner and his staff to admit station personnel.
* Finkbeiner has also suggested a cafe be built on the Martin Luther King bridge so city employees could eat there while the bridge was undergoing construction.
* In August 2007, Finkbeiner was confronted on two occasions by reporters because he parked in a handicapped spot and left his dog, Scout, in the car during a hot spell. Finkbeiner was ticketed and fined, but denied mistreating the animal.
* In February 2008, Finkbeiner refused to let a company of 200 Marine Corps Reservists engage in urban patrol exercises on the streets of downtown as well as inside the mostly vacant Madison Building, 607 Madison Ave. Toledo police knew about the event three days in advance, but it wasn't until the Marines arrived that "the mayor asked them to leave because they frighten people," said Brian Schwartz, the mayor's spokesman. Finkbeiner defended his decision to cancel the exercise, but in an e-mail to Marine Corps officials, he expressed support for the Marines and the military and invited the Marine unit to return to Toledo for training, but not downtown. In reaction to the uproar Finkbeiner has offered conflicting explanations for his denial. During a recent interview Finkbeiner used the profanity to describe the situation he caused as a "fucking ruckus." In a related note, Schwartz was suspended by the city for 15 days without pay for a series of alleged incidents toward members of the media, particularly one in which he used obscenities toward a producer at radio station WJR in Detroit, who had called to arrange an interview with Finkbeiner. Schwartz later hired an attorney, claiming Finkbeiner and chief of staff Bob Reinbolt violated his civil rights.
* In summer 2008, Finkbeiner spent nearly $80,000 of taxpayer money (without City Council approval) to renovate Bay 4 the Erie Street Market into a concert venue. According to the City Charter, the mayor may spend up to $10,000 without City Council approval. Finkbeiner broke the nearly $80,000 into 13 separate contracts under $10,000 to circumvent council's approval. Moreover, Finkbeiner tapped local concert promoter, Rob Croak, to schedule events at the Erie Street Market. Croak was convicted on one count of forgery and has been arrested for but not convicted of underage alcohol sales, according to court records. The forgery conviction stems from a 2001 accusation that Croak falsified records to obtain a liquor permit. Also, Croak owes thousands of dollars in back state and federal taxes. Since December 2008, there have been no concert events held at the Erie Street Market , and the city has not recouped its investment in the concert venue.
* In 2009, Take Back Toledo (a group of Toledo area businessmen whose goal is to foster a pro-business, pro-jobs and pro-economic development climate in Northwestern Ohio) led a campaign to recall Finkbeiner from office. On April 15th, the Lucas County Board of Elections validated 20,400 signature, enough to recall Finkbeiner. On April 20th, Clerk of Council Jerry Dendinger hand-delivered a recall notice to Finkbeiner. According to the City Charter, Finkbeiner has five days to resign or face a recall vote on the November election. Finkbeiner refused to resign and hired a law firm to contest the validity of the recall petition signatures. If the recall goes on the November ballot, Finkbeiner will be the second mayor of a major Ohio city in state history to be on a recall ballot. The first mayor of a major Ohio city to face a recall election was Cleveland Mayor Dennis Kucinich, whose recall was defeated on the ballot in 1978.
* In April 2009, despite Toledo having the lowest police per 1,000 resident ratio in Ohio, Finkbeiner announced his plans to layoff an additional 150 officers. After the layoffs take effect, Toledo will have only 1.6 police officers per 1,000 residents. In order to maintain a basic level of protection and safety on the streets, numerous units are being eliminated or reduced. Some of these units are the Gang Task Force, Mounted Patrol, School Resource Officer, Crime Analysis, Traffic, SWAT, Vice, and Community Services. This controversy has led to the Toledo Police Department filing a lawsuit against the City of Toledo in an effort to stop the layoffs.
* In June 2009, Finkbeiner supported the $25 tickets issued by the Division of Streets, Bridges, and Harbor to residents for parking in their own driveways. He claimed the tickets were given due to a city law that prohibits parking on unpaved surfaces, which includes gravel driveways. Despite criticism, Finkbeiner denied the fines were related to the city's financial woes.
Media Bias is Official Policy Now
ABC TURNS PROGRAMMING OVER TO OBAMA; NEWS TO BE ANCHORED FROM INSIDE WHITE HOUSE
On the night of June 24, the media and government become one, when ABC turns its programming over to President Obama and White House officials to push government run health care -- a move that has ignited an ethical firestorm!
Highlights on the agenda:
ABCNEWS anchor Charlie Gibson will deliver WORLD NEWS from the Blue Room of the White House.
The network plans a primetime special -- 'Prescription for America' -- originating from the East Room, exclude opposing voices on the debate.
MORE
Late Monday night, Republican National Committee Chief of Staff Ken McKay fired off a complaint to the head of ABCNEWS:
Dear Mr. Westin:
As the national debate on health care reform intensifies, I am deeply concerned and disappointed with ABC's astonishing decision to exclude opposing voices on this critical issue on June 24, 2009. Next Wednesday, ABC News will air a primetime health care reform “town hall” at the White House with President Barack Obama. In addition, according to an ABC News report, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, WORLD NEWS, NIGHTLINE and ABC’s web news “will all feature special programming on the president’s health care agenda.” This does not include the promotion, over the next 9 days, the president’s health care agenda will receive on ABC News programming.
Today, the Republican National Committee requested an opportunity to add our Party's views to those of the President's to ensure that all sides of the health care reform debate are presented. Our request was rejected. I believe that the President should have the ability to speak directly to the America people. However, I find it outrageous that ABC would prohibit our Party's opposing thoughts and ideas from this national debate, which affects millions of ABC viewers.
In the absence of opposition, I am concerned this event will become a glorified infomercial to promote the Democrat agenda. If that is the case, this primetime infomercial should be paid for out of the DNC coffers. President Obama does not hold a monopoly on health care reform ideas or on free airtime. The President has stated time and time again that he wants a bipartisan debate. Therefore, the Republican Party should be included in this primetime event, or the DNC should pay for your airtime.
Respectfully,
Ken McKay
Republican National Committee
Chief of Staff

"OOOOH MY DESK ! ! !" Hypocrite?

A sound technician knocked over a glass of water on the president's desk in the oval office while entering for Obama's photo op with Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai.
Obama heard something untoward as the press entered the room.
"Uh oh," he said. "What'd you all get there," he inquired.
"A water glass," came the reply from several in the press.
"Alright," he said with unmistakable dismay in his voice, adding sarcastically, "It's the Resolution Desk. It's only like a hundred years old."
Actually, Mr.President, it's the Resolute Desk, made from the timbers of the HMS Resolute, a gift to President Rutherford B. Hayes from Queen Victoria in 1880 . Just ask Nicholas Cage
I guess it is ok to put your feet up on the desk?
Bush 41 supports Reagan's "Voodoo Economics"
Bush 41 is now Reagan Republican
"I think people are alarmed now. There's too much government intervention into everything - putting people on the boards of directors. Too much. And too much spending," Former President George H.W. Bush said in an interview with the Washington Times. "I think people are, you know, understandably concerned about some of the things that are going on now."
"You don't have to change your fundamental principles. ... Clearly, Reagan touched into the heartbeat of the American people in a wonderful way."
"I am not one who considers the GOP totally on the ropes. ... That's the standard message, and I don't believe it," said Mr. Bush. "I remember being elected two years after the same message was sent in 1964 about the Democrats running everything, 'Republicans are dead,' " he said, before going on to note his election to the House in 1966, when Republicans picked up 47 net seats.

Obama pulls a Nixon

On June 11, Mr. Obama fired Gerald Walpin, inspector general for the Corporation for National and Community Service. He offered no public reason for doing so other than that he "no longer" had "the fullest confidence" in Mr. Walpin. (I wrote about this a few days ago here)

Planning on a vacation. There might be a new Chinese Restaurant in Bermuda.
The four of the Chinese Muslims, or Uighurs, released to Bermuda from the Guantanamo Bay prison told FOX News that they are innocent, glad to be free and hold no grudges against the United States for their captivity.
The men, who range from 31 to 38 years old, also said they think life in China, where they face persecution, is worse than life at Guantanamo.
The Uighurs told FOX News that they plan to make their home in Bermuda, probably working first in some form of manual labor. They also may open a restaurant and look forward to swimming and fishing.
Country roads turning back to gravel. Some John Denver too.

In Michigan, some counties are turning once-paved rural roads back into gravel roads to save some money.
20 counties have turned deteriorating paved roads to gravel in the last few years, according to the County Road Association of Michigan.
It is estimated that it takes about $10,000 to grind up a mile of pavement and put down gravel. It takes more than $100,000 to repave a mile of road.

Six Flags Bankrupt, but Hannity is still on.

The amusement park company Six Flags is seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, saying it needs to reorganize and shed $1.8 billion of debt.
Mark Shapiro, the New York-based company's chief executive officer, says the move won't affect the operation of its 20 theme parks in the U.S., Mexico and Canada. So Sean Hannity is still a GO
Six Flags says it actually had a great year in 2008. It saw 25 million visitors and posted record revenues. But executives are trying to lighten a $2.4 billion debt load that they say is unsustainable.
Do they qualify for a bailout? Or are they not too big to fail??

“We Had To Destroy The City In Order To Save It”
US cities may have to be bulldozed in order to survive states the headline.
Dozens of US cities may have entire neighbourhoods bulldozed as part of drastic "shrink to survive" proposals being considered by the Obama administration to tackle economic decline.
The radical experiment is the brainchild of Dan Kildee, treasurer of Genesee County, which includes Flint.
Having outlined his strategy to Barack Obama during the election campaign, Mr Kildee has now been approached by the US government and a group of charities who want him to apply what he has learnt to the rest of the country.See the full story here.
Hey, I am sure there will be NO PROBLEMS in regard to eminent domain. People will gladly give up their homes to make "Greenways" and to make life easier for city planners. "Yes President Obama, please bulldoze my house and turn it into a sanctuary for Nutria. And please consolidate all the people in government dependent housing developments. I know that the government knows best."

Illegal "Political" Firing by Obama? Where are the hearings?
Short Version.....“the AmeriCorps IG accuses prominent Obama supporter of misusing AmeriCorps grant money. Prominent Obama supporter has to pay back more than $400,000 of that grant money. Obama fires AmeriCorps IG.”
Take a look at the story here
Longer version.........
The White House is going ahead with firing Walpin. The firing apparently stems from Walpin’s investigation of a non-profit group, St. HOPE Academy, run by Kevin Johnson, the former NBA star
who is now mayor of Sacramento, California (and a big Obama supporter). “[Walpin] found that Johnson, a former all-star point guard for the Phoenix Suns, had used AmeriCorps grants to pay volunteers to engage in school-board political activities, run personal errands for Johnson and even wash his car,” the AP reports. In April, the U.S. attorney declined to file any criminal charges in the matter and criticized Walpin’s investigation. But at the same time Johnson and St. HOPE agreed to repay about half of the $850,000 it had received from AmeriCorps. Bottom line: The AmeriCorps IG accuses prominent Obama supporter of misusing AmeriCorps grant money. Prominent Obama supporter has to pay back more than $400,000 of that grant money. Obama fires AmeriCorps IG.
